A summer of Pride Challenges – in-pictures

The British summer – with its longer daylight hours and, when we cross our fingers for long enough, warmer weather – offers a great window for charity challenge events. This summer, we were delighted to see 37 people involved in several events, raising much-needed funds for Bhubesi Pride Foundation in support of youth programming in Malawi.

Events included:

  • The Thames Path Ultra Challenge – 25 people walking or running distances of 10 km, 22 km, 50 km, 72 km or 100 km (collectively totalling 1,334 km in one day), with most starting in the morning and some finishing at around 2 am
  • 10 Scottish Munros – ‘Duncan and Duncan’ (long-time friends Duncan Macdonald and Gordon Duncan) summited 10 Scottish peaks (each one over 3,000 ft) in 15 hours, covering 43.02 km with a total ascent of 1,950 m
  • Marathons & rowing – Uni pals Joe, Will and Tom travelled to Malawi this summer – also carrying out UK-based land & water challenges – while another Joe [Moss] took on the Ipswich Half and Greg [Proll] the Great North Run
  • Scott Wilson spent 6 weeks in Lilongwe with BPF Malawi this June/July while raising an impressive amount on his own
  • Father and daughter Chris & Lily look to emulate the efforts of the Thames Path Challengers by walking similar distances where they live in Colorado

We’ve raised £30,000. We’d like to extend our sincere thank you to all of you for your amazing endurance and fundraising for BPF – and to everyone who sponsored our summer challengers… there’s been about 500 of you!
