Join us this year for an organised Ultra Charity Challenge walk along the Thames... or embark on another Ultra Challenge Series event
Inspired by our 2023 London to Paris cycle and the fundraising efforts of a young, school-going James Herbert almost 10 years ago, we’re bringing an essence of BPF’s African-based volunteering activities to UK soil. This year, we’re inviting BPF supporters to join us as we come together to ‘ultra challenge’ ourselves and raise funds for the youth programming being delivered and developed in Malawi.
When James [Herbert] was just 14, he read about BPF in the newspaper and by the time he was sitting his senior school exams, he’d walked the Thames Path Challenge three years in a row, raising over £2,000 for the charity! Now at university and simultaneously pushing himself to become a top flight rugby referee, James recently volunteered with BPF in Malawi.
Be our next BPF hero by joining James and the charity this year as we all prepare to take on the Thames Path Challenge, following England’s greatest river while raising funds for Bhubesi Pride Foundation…
Whether you walk (as we will), jog or run, this Ultra Challenge Series event offers the full Thames Path Challenge 100 km route from Putney Bridge, past Hampton Court to Runnymede and through wonderful historic scenery all the way to Henley. With the 72 km option (which we’re entering), 50 km half challenge or 25 km, there’s a distance for everyone. Participants will be supported all the way by the Ultra Challenge event team and rewarded with a wonderful sense of achievement, camaraderie and pride.
Your entry fee includes food and drink at regular rest stops, plus support including medics, marshals and massage. As you cross the finish line, you’ll get a glass of fizz, t-shirt, and a finisher’s medal.
1. Full Sponsorship – pay a small registration fee, do lots of fundraising and BPF covers the cost of your event place
2. Mixed Funding – pay half of the event place cost yourself, fundraise a bit less and BPF pays the balance of your event place
3. Own Place Fundraising – pay the full cost of your event place… fundraise whatever you can and there’s no event place cost at all to BPF
Join us at 9.30 am on 14 Sept 2024 to walk from Hurst Park to Henley-On-Thames, taking us 10 - 16 hours
