Shaping young lives, developing people and learning and sharing knowledge with local coaches
Rugby in Kenya, including its first recorded fixtures, dates back to the early 1900s with the union and clubs, such as Nondescripts, forming in the 1920s. Today domestic rugby is competitive and, in the sevens format, the national team’s success on the world stage provides a source of inspiration for young players. In Nairobi, we’ve worked with organisations such as the Shamas Rugby Foundation and Community Rugby Association (CRA), who, like Bhubesi Pride Foundation, see rugby as more than just a sport. We collaborate with organisations who work with children from highly challenging and abusive home environments. Programs aim to build players’ confidence and teach life-skills to help them make better life decisions and greater contributions to their communities.

Having built relationships with local delivery partners and led annual volunteer coaching programs in Nairobi, we've created funded opportunities for Kenyan coaches to travel with the charity to other African countries and delivered local coach education workshops.
